SEABROOK JOINS KNOCK OUT OPIATE ABUSE DAY

On October 6, 2016 Seabrook joined a project of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey and The Community Coalition for a Safe & Healthy Morris, in cooperation with the New Jersey Department of Human Services, and Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse called “Knock Out Opiate Abuse Day”. Seabrook has been providing Substance Use Disorder treatment to patients for over 42 years in the state of New Jersey. As part of Seabrook’s effort to “Knock Out Opiate Abuse” we have been supporting and educating families, individuals, and healthcare providers throughout the state for as long as we have been treating this disease.

In communities across New Jersey, the Knock Out Opiate Abuse Day event took place
on October 6, 2016 between 10 am and 3 pm. Knock Out Opiate Abuse Day is a statewide single-day initiative, to the community to educate and raise awareness to families and physicians among, New Jersey.

Seabrook, New Jersey legislators, concerned citizens throughout New Jersey, impacted families, and substance abuse professionals will be joined by two former governors as they take to the streets and physician and dentist offices to raise awareness about the epidemic of opiate abuse that is impacting our state and to raise awareness about the link between prescribed opiates and the heroin abuse rates in New Jersey.

Volunteers are equipped with information, including “Door Knockers” door hangers, resource guides and a copy of the CDC guidelines for prescribing, to provide each prescriber. These tools are designed to raise awareness with information on the link between prescribed opiates and heroin abuse.
