Request for $100M in Federal Funding to Curb Heroin Use in NY, NJ

U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer requested $100M in federal funding to help with the heroin epidemic. The New York Democrat is asking for the funds to be allocated to the Federal High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program so help authorities in NY and NJ better assess the heroin traffickers patters in these areas. In addition, Schumer is hoping to share information between federal and local officials so together they combat this epidemic.
