New Jersey Mail Carrier Delivers Cocaine

Federal authorities have charged a New Jersey mail carrier with distributing more than 18 kilograms of cocaine along her route, sources say. The mail carrier would intercept packages full of cocaine arriving from Puerto Rico, and then pass them along to an accomplice in Camden. She had been smuggling the coke this way for almost two years. She later admitted to running the packages in exchange for $500 to $600 per package.

This latest story is just another example of the ingenious ways that drugs dealers import and distribute their products. Whether it’s cocaine, meth, bath salts, marijuana, crack, or even prescription pills, dealers and distributors have ways to get their materials in the hands of their victims—the ones who are addicted to them. The only real way to stop the drug trade would be to eliminate demand for the illegal or misused drugs. And the best way to do that is to seek treatment—whether for yourself or for someone you know. It is possible for drug users to turn their lives around.

If you think you have a problem with drug addiction or know someone who does, you should seek help now for yourself or your loved one. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating drug dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center.
