New Jersey Judge in Treatment after Groping Party

A New Jersey-based Superior Court was ordered into alcohol treatment after groping women at a holiday party in Toms River. The judge was very intoxicated and doesn’t remember touching anyone inappropriately. He ended up groping five female probation officers, and a female employee of the pub where the incident took place. He is 53 years old, married, and a father of two. The incident took place in 2010. The judge has been suspended for four months without pay.

There is no shame in getting treatment for alcohol abuse or addiction. It’s a positive step that shows someone’s commitment to facing reality head-on and making it better. In that sense, the treatment will no doubt be a very good move forward for him. However, it is unfortunate that it took such an outrageous incident for the judge to be admitted to a treatment program. Many people have problems admitting their problems to themselves and others, even Superior Court judges.

Don’t let it go so far that you are suspended after a highly-publicized incident. If you have a problem with alcohol abuse or dependence, you should seek help now before you do something you regret. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating alcohol dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center. At Seabrook, we customize our treatment plans to individual patient’s needs, so you know the help you’re getting is right for you or a loved one.
