Man Charged with Reckless Murder for Alcohol-Related Car Fatality

A man in Montgomery, Alabama, has been arrested and charged with reckless murder after he lost control of the car he was driving. Police say alcohol was involved in the accident, which caused the death of the man’s passenger. The crash apparently happened shortly before midnight, as the driver lost control of the vehicle and steered into a concrete divider. The victim, a passenger in the car, was a 21-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, and a small child who was in the back seat, were both taken to a local hospital for treatment.

This tragic accident is yet another example that alcohol and driving don’t mix. Though there has been no statement about whether the driver had a history of alcohol abuse or alcoholism, the fact is that drinking and driving is more than a warning sign. And whether the substance in question is alcohol, pot, or other drugs like cocaine, PCP, meth, heroin, or prescription pills, the fact is that these substances are dangerous and should not be used by anyone who will be driving.

If you or someone you know has a problem with alcohol addiction or dependence, you should seek help now. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating alcohol and drug dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center.
