A new study from University at Buffalo’s Research Institute on Addictions shows that there is a relation between risky sex and drinkers who mix energy drinks and alcohol. Vodka and Red Bull, Four Loko, and Jäger bombs are all popular combinations of substances.

Researchers say that the caffeine in energy drinks increases the priming effect of alcohol, leading drinkers to crave more and more drinks, leading to greater rates of intoxication and inhibition. And though drinkers who mixed caffeine and alcohol were not less likely to use condoms, they were more likely to get sexually-transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies, or other worse situations such as rape or depression.
