8 Pounds of Marijuana Recently Seized in Trenton Raid

In a dramatic raid on an apartment complex in west Trenton, police detectives busted three men and seized more than 8 pounds of marijuana, along with several hundred dollars of drug-related paraphenalia. This latest bust demonstrates the widespread trafficking in drugs that happens in Trenton and other parts of New Jersey (NJ). Two of the three men were arrested in drug dealing charges, and the third was busted buying drugs from the resident of the apartment.

Also found at the scene were bulletproof vests and hollow-point bullets, though the men arrested did not resist with violent force. Nevertheless, finding such an armory at the scene vividly illustrates the links between drugs, crime, and violence. Hollow-point bullets are also known as “cop-killers,” because they can pierce police-issued body armor. Police also found a 9mm handgun at the scene. Though some may think that smoking marijuana is a victimless crime, the simple fact is that buying illicit drugs is an illegal act that supports criminals, criminal activity, and violence. All involved were lucky that this was a non-violent raid and arrest, though there apparently was potential for it to go catastrophically wrong.
