Drug Overdose Claims Carter Sister’s Life

The sister of widely known Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, Leslie Carter, died in early February 2012 due to a drug overdose. Officials who responded to a 911 call from her family’s western New York home found three drugs near her body: Olanzapine (used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder), Cyclobenzaprine (a muscle relaxant) and Alprazolam (used to treat anxiety or panic disorders). The cause of death won’t be official until the autopsy report in a few weeks, but it’s presumed given the evidence that she died from a dangerous overdose and mix of drugs.

This story is a sad reminder of the dangers of drugs—whether they’re illegal or prescribed. It appears that Leslie did have some issues with mental illness and depression, but even though she might have been prescribed some medications to deal with these issues the mixing of them at once proved to be deadly. Leslie also apparently had an addiction to prescription pills, so for those who deal with the same kind of addiction or illnesses that she dealt with, this story can prove to be a harsh reminder to either get help for your addiction or be more careful about when and how to safely use drugs.

For those who have an addiction to prescription medications, there is excellent treatment available in order for you to kick the habit—and Seabrook House is some of the best help on the east coast. At Seabrook House, we are committed to providing quality addiction treatment for the physical, emotional and spiritual illness of chemical dependency. Our structured, nurturing programs, along with the principles grounded in the Twelve Step philosophy of recovery, combine to foster the kind of change necessary for a clean and sober life. Our wide range of addiction treatment services include intensive stabilization (also known as detoxification), individual and group therapy, and education in the biological, social and spiritual aspects of addiction in residential treatment. New York (NY) and New Jersey (NJ) residents who struggle with alcoholism or substance abuse and are ready to make the commitment towards a successful recovery should consider the excellent and renowned addiction treatment right in your back yard—  Seabrook House.
