Drug Rehab Success Story: Eva Mendes

Back in 2008, Eva Mendes found her name in the news for what most people considered a complete surprise—checking into a drug and alcoholism detox and rehab center. Mendes entered into Cirque Lodge in Utah for an apparent alcoholism problem that was a shock to her fans and those around her because of her history that included no previous addiction problems or run-ins with the law. Her representative released this statement while Mendes was in rehab: “Eva has been working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much-needed time off to proactively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support.”

Because celebrities are (and always have been) such popular public figures, their personal situations are often put under a microscope. To be fair, being a celebrity is a lifestyle that people like Eva Mendes chose, but sometimes it’s inspirational for people to understand and realize that anyone, even a seemingly flawless actress, can fall into an addiction that requires professional help. A few months after her release from rehab, Mendes offered some inspiring words by saying that she’s “proud of people who have the determination and the fearlessness to actually go and face their demons and get better.” The Mendes story is a classic example of how admitting to and facing your addiction is truly the only way to recover. There are professionals that are trained in the disease of addiction, and some of the best professionals on the east coast are at Seabrook House.

Seabrook House is a drug rehab and alcoholism detox treatment center with three locations in the northeast United States : two rehab facilities in Bridgeton, New Jersey (NJ) and Tioga County, Pennsylvania (PA) and a New York (NY) City outpatient office. All Seabrook House programs are grounded in the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). The Seabrook House Model® of treatment includes a multifaceted medical approach to alcohol and other drugs including opiate detoxification, gender-specific therapy with special emphasis on relapse prevention, and family intervention services. The treatment team at Seabrook House will create an individually inspired and unique rehab and/or detox program that will best fit your personal situation.
