Ecstasy or MDMA is a chemical stimulant and it is taken orally as a capsule or tablet. This drug has historically been popular among young adults in the nightclub scene of urban centers because effect that it can have on a person’s mood, aggression, sexual activity, sleep, and sensitivity to pain. Ecstasy is a very dangerous drug that can lead to fatal increases in heart rate and blood pressure because of its chemical effects. MDMA can produce confusion, depression, anxiety and drug craving that can take effect immediately or possibly even weeks after ingestion. In high doses, Ecstasy can interfere with the body’s ability to regulate body temperature which can lead to liver, kidney, or cardiovascular system failure or death.  Ecstasy is particularly risky in that it can be lethal even in its first use. Those addicted to Ecstasy are at much greater risk for depression and anxiety even after quitting, so seeking therapy as soon as possible is critical to rehabilitation for addiction to Ecstasy.

At Seabrook House we have found that the best ecstasy addiction rehab involves a considerable amount of counseling and close monitoring of the client’s emotional needs and sense of comfort. Ecstasy users often deal with depression because of deficiencies in their levels of serotonin. Serotonin is a mood chemical that is found in ecstasy and it controls emotions and functions like sleep, appetite, mood swings, and pain perception. At Seabrook House we also focus on the educational aspect of the treatment process. It’s important that our patients understand and are aware of the dangers of ecstasy so they can understand the potential damage it will do to them if they continue their use.

Patients at Seabrook House (which come from all of the US and Europe as well as the Carribean) often think that ecstasy addicts must come from major cities like New York, LA, Washington DC, or Miami.  In actuality, Seabrook House has provided therapy and rehabilitation services as well as interventions for patients from as far south as Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, as far west as Oregon, Washington, and California; and throughout the US interior in states like Nebraska, Ohio, Illinois, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Tennessee.  If you or a loved one is suffering from ecstasy addiction, call an admittance expert at Seabrook House now to learn more about how to help yourself or them, stage an intervention, and admit them for detox, therapy, and rehabilitation.
