WESTFIELD, PA – (July 22, 2011) More than 40 professionals including clinicians, interventionists, directors of treatment facilities and case workers from around the country gathered recently at Seabrook House West for an open house and a presentation by Petros Levounis, MD, director of the Addiction Institute of New York.
Seabrook House West has been hosting these events in Pennsylvania, such as this for select professionals in the addiction treatment field, since it’s opening in 2008. . Taking place over the course of a weekend, it includes time for networking; continuing education; meals; activities such as massages, golf and outdoor fun. Accommodations were at the Radisson in nearbyCorning,NY.
The guests also toured the Seabrook West campus and spent time with the facilities’ residents, who are receiving long-term treatment for drug and alcohol addiction.
The highlight of the visit was Levounis’ two-hour presentation, titled “Motivation and Change: Addiction Medicine in the 21st Century.” Guests received 2.0 continuing education units through the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors.
“Like everyone I talked with, Dr. Levounis’ lecture was the best presentation of this subject I have ever heard. I have been in the field for 25 years, so that says a lot for the presentation,” one guest said.
“He is an excellent presenter – he listens to what others say. He is knowledgeable and can make his points, keeping my interest! Excellent job!” another said.
